Jagannath University Correspondent: Amid the Eid-ul-Azha and summer vacation, when most students were away, Jagannath University Chhatra Dal Joint Convener Md. Shahriar Hossain set an inspiring example by feeding hungry stray dogs and cats on campus.
On Wednesday, June 11, 2025, Shahriar personally distributed bread to the distressed animals in front of the university mosque. His compassionate initiative caught the attention of those present, as the extreme heat and food scarcity had left many animals struggling to survive. His act has sparked hope among animal lovers on campus.
Speaking on his initiative, Shahriar Hossain stated, "I often see stray dogs and cats on campus suffering from starvation and illness. It pains me to witness their distress. Today, I arranged some bread for them. We all should be compassionate towards these helpless creatures."
His gesture is expected to encourage other students to take part in animal welfare efforts.
Jagannath University Chhatra Dal Convener Mehedi Hasan Himel praised the act, stating, "This is undoubtedly a noble initiative. Our leaders always take commendable steps, and this is no exception. We hope to continue engaging in such positive activities and create a supportive environment on campus."
Member Secretary Shamsul Arefin added, "Our unit has always been mindful of animal welfare. I believe other organizations will also be inspired to step forward."
