Jagannath University Correspondent: Recently, nearly 70 Palestinian citizens were killed in attacks by Israeli occupying forces in Gaza. Condemning and protesting these brutal attacks during the holy month of Ramadan, the Jagannath University Teachers’ Association (JUTA) organized a human chain today.
In protest against the brutal and barbaric attacks by Israeli forces on the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, the Jagannath University Teachers’ Association held a human chain program today (Thursday, March 20, 2025). The event, held in front of the university’s central Shaheed Minar, expressed solidarity with the Palestinian people and called for immediate intervention by world leaders to stop the Israeli attacks.
The Hamas-controlled health ministry in Gaza reported that at least 436 Palestinians have been killed in the ongoing attacks since Tuesday, including 183 children. A ceasefire between Israel and Hamas had been in effect since January 19, but the occupying Israeli forces launched a devastating aggression in Gaza on Tuesday, breaking the ceasefire. In protest against the Israeli aggression, all active student organizations and general students joined the human chain alongside JUTA.

The human chain, presided over by JUTA President Professor Dr. Md. Mosharraf Hossain, was conducted by the association’s General Secretary Professor Dr. Md. Rois Uddin. Deans of various faculties, departmental chairpersons, the controller of examinations, the proctor, directors of various offices, teachers, students, leaders of student and journalist organizations, as well as leaders of the officers’ and employees’ associations, delivered speeches during the event.
Speakers at the human chain urged world leaders to take urgent action to stop the terrorist attacks by Israeli forces on Palestinian Muslims. They made a heartfelt appeal to the global community to stand by the oppressed people of Palestine. Additionally, they called for a boycott of products owned by Israel and its allied Western countries.
At the end of the human chain, special prayers were offered for the oppressed and persecuted people of Palestine. Everyone present prayed for the liberation and peace of the Palestinian people. Teachers, students, officers, and employees from various departments of the university participated in the human chain, expressing their unwavering support and solidarity with the Palestinian people.
